Authorities in the United States may waive the mandatory medical and Income Insurance because of the forthcoming reforms in the health care system in the country. Second largest bank in the country – EFG Eurobank Ergasias SA, lost 6 percent today, and Piraeus Bank SA – 4 per cent. Shares of Royal Bank of Scotland lost 4.7 percent and those of Lloyds – 4,1 per cent after British finance minister Alistair Darling refused to repeal the tax on very high bonuses. Shares of Siemens AG retreated by 1,6 percent as Morgan Stanley cut its recommendation on them.

The Russia’s largest bank – Sberbank, reported a decline in profits for the third quarter by 82 percent for allocation to cover bad loans. The bank’s profit for the period July-September fell to 4.25 billion rubles (144 million dollars) from 23.2 billion rubles a year earlier. The overdue loans at the end of the third quarter accounted for 7.9 percent of total lending to the share of 1,8 per cent in the beginning of the year from 6,4 percent in late half. Provisions for bad debts jumped by 27 percent during the third quarter to 493.8 billion rubles, an increase of more than eight times the comparable period last year. Total bank lending increased by 4,8 percent to 5,5 trillion rubles.

Panasonic Europe, today launched a joint collaboration with SEAS-NVE – the largest energy company in Denmark, owned by consumers for the launch of pilot projects on construction of intelligent network management energy. The partnership program will lay the foundation for creating eco-homes future in Europe. To demonstrate how technology can help achieve the objectives of SOR15 in Copenhagen, the forthcoming event will be shown a prototype house, which will be equipped with the system Lifinity Home Energy Management System (HEMS – management system for domestic energy consumption ) by Panasonic and technology of the “smart grid” of SEAS-NVE’s intelligent regulation of electricity consumption in appliances, lighting and heating. “This collaboration at European level is only a first step towards wider deployment in the practice of energy management system, invented by Panasonic”, said Laurent Abad – CEO of Panasonic Europe.

The French car-builder PSA Peugeot Citroen has confirmed that negotiations with its Japanese partner Mitsubishi Motors to expand cooperation between them, which can become a “strategic partnership”, AFP reported. According to Japanese economic newspaper Nikkei PSA is preparing to acquire control of 30 to 50 percent of the capital located in a difficult financial situation of Mitsubishi Motors, as companies are currently in the final stage of negotiations. Mitsubishi spokesman confirmed that both groups hold talks on projects of mutual benefit. The PSA did not deny the negotiations, but not confirmed for the opportunity to purchase shares of the Japanese firm. According to Japanese press most likely scenario is Mitsubishi to issue new shares for between 200 and 300 billion yen ($ 1,5-2,3 billion) to buy PSA provides its share of 30-50% in equity. Any transaction with Mitsubishi will provide Peugeot Citroen increased access to Asian markets, which are expected to continue to grow rapidly. PSA and Mitsubishi are partnering for several years.
