Raiffeisen Zentralbank Oesterreich AG (RZB), the majority owner of Raiffeisen Bank International AG seek permission from shareholders to fill the capital hole of 2.5 billion EUR. by selling new shares and other securities. RZB, whose shares are not tradable and are the property of 8 regional Austrian cooperative banks, the shareholders meeting scheduled for 28 December. The company plans to sell up to 3 million new shares in RZB (50% of existing shares) and sold shares to forbid right out loud. RZB, whose main asset is 79% of the third largest bank in Eastern Europe – Raiffeisen Bank International, needs additional capital to meet the new capital adequacy requirements of at least 9%, imposed by the banking regulator. On November 24th, Raiffeisen Bank announced that RZB together with work on 20 measures to fill the capital hole, so you do not need to seek state aid or to sell new shares in Raiffeisen Bank International. Measures include shrinkage of assets and allocation of profits.

“A scary warning: Dacia could leave Romania”, said today the site of the Romanian television Realitatea. The French automobile company Renault, which owns the Romanian Dacia, may withdraw its business from Pitesti, if the car market to shrink. The American Airlines wants to terminate lease contracts for 24 aircraft and engines to reduce costs after AMR Corp – Company-owned airline, filed for protection from creditors. AMR Corp said it has enough orders for new aircraft and the termination of the lease will allow it to accelerate fleet renewal. The documents for protection from creditors, the company has indicated that it has signed leases, primarily for aircraft McDonnell Douglas DC-9, as she expected much more significant demand for air transport.
“With the continuing decline of the economy and travel, however, these same aircraft and engines now have a much lower value compared to the market and are not necessary for the operations of the company”, said the owner of the airline. The documentation does not indicate how much would be saved from termination of leases. The airline has a fleet of 600 aircraft. According to the carrier for most of the equipment is not currently in use and stored in New Mexico.

The French bank Societe Generale will cut employee bonuses and refused payment of dividends after serious losses due to write-off of 60% of the value of Greek government bonds totaling 239 million EUR. The net profit of the financial institution for the third quarter shrank 30.6 percent annually, reaching 622 million EUR, which did not meet analysts’ expectations. Operating profit for the third quarter shrank by 3.7% to 1.3 billion EUR. The second largest French bank said it will pay dividends for 2011 to improve its balance sheet.
“Give priority to strengthening the capital of the group”, said CEO of Societe Generale Frederic Udea. He added that staff bonuses will be reduced by “a significant decline in payments for achievements” in the division of corporate and investment banking. The unit retail performed well, however, as there is profit increased by nearly 15% through attracting new customers and increase mortgage lending. By the financial institution also indicated that during the quarter reduced their exposure to government bonds of troubled states of the Eurozone to 3.4 billion EUR, and sold bad assets for 10 billion EUR.

Deutsche Bank AG, BNP Paribas SA and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. are among banks that will need to maintain higher capital adequacy provide plans of the G-20. The higher capital buffers in the amount of 1 to 2.5 percentage points. A total of 29 banks may need to meet higher requirements stated in the document prior to the Board for financial stability. The measure was approved by regulatory authorities in order to prevent possible failure of systematically important financial institutions. Systematically important banks need “higher capital requirements to reflect the cost of their eventual bankruptcy,” said Mario Drago, president of the European Central Bank (ECB). Nomura Holdings Inc. and Spain’s Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA are not included in the list of banks with higher capital requirements, while Lloyds Banking Group Plc E.
“The list is generally not a big surprise if you look at what are the 30 largest global banks”, said Henry Irving, director of the British Banking Association. “It is interesting that they find the name of Standard Chartered”, he said. “Surprisingly, that is not included and Nomura”. Among the state banks in rank list Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan, but not Morgan Stanley.

Volkswagen will become the largest automaker in the world this year – seven years earlier than planned by management objectives. Then the Germans sold 3 million cars less than Japanese competitors. According to Winterkorn during the first half of this year the Group sold a record 4 million cars. He predicts that by year-end sales can go up to 8 million cars. VW has managed to become a best-selling automaker in China – the largest car market in the world. In addition, this year the company managed to increase sales of difficulties European market by 8%. VW built the most successful platform for “sharing” of the various brands under the umbrella of the company, including Skoda, Seat, Audi and Bentley.
The expectations for leadership positions in VW is supported by several consulting firms – IHS Automotive, JD Power, PwC Autofacts.
